Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:21-22 NIV
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:21-22 KJV

Comments: When you first look at this you may think Jesus is using an exaggeration to make a point. Alot of times he used parables to do just that. But here I believe he is being very serious and very emphatic. Our faith in its purest form is powerful enough to move mountains. Yet, unfortunately we weaken and dilute it with our doubts and uncertainty to the point that it becomes ineffective. We sabatoge our own lives so many times. We ask God for help in different situations in our lives, and many times we see his hand at work, an yet at other times, usually with the big stuff, we don't see it because we have doubts and don't believe completely that it can happen for us. And because of that, it doesn't. The key phrase in this entire passage is "If you believe". Even the apostles asked Jesus for help to overcome their unbelief. I, too, have prayed that same prayer. The closer we get to pure faith, like that of our children, the more powerfully God can work in our lives. I pray we all continue to grow and deepen our faith. Because he also says that without faith it is impossible to please him. I want to be pleasing to God. - Kevin H.
