Quotes - Bible Quotes - Proverbs - Proverbs 2:1-5
Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (NIV)
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. (King James Version)

Comments: These verses show me that if I have the desire and the willingness to look, search, accept God's words I will find knowledge and wisdom. I must also cry out, cry aloud, and look and search for it as for silver and hidden treasure. It must be something within me. A determination that keeps going and searching and looking and praying to God for direction, and crying out to him to show me the way that will bring me to wisdom and understanding. It is a promise. It will happen if I choose this path. As with so many things with God, he allows me the choice. It is there if I want it. At any time. He even shows me how to get it. If I don't possess it, it is my fault. He has shown me the way, he has pointed to the path, and it is up to me to decide how bad I want it. As the verses go on, God shows examples of the results of people who chose not to seek after His wisdom and how their lives turned out. It is not good. God says, by seeking His wisdom, and living by it, I can be saved from the heartache and pain of making bad choices that lead to being cut off from God and sure death. But, every day I must make that choice... - Kevin H.
